TERMS & CONDITIONS

Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of thebonesvault.com and any purchase you make from us. Please read them before ordering. By placing an order you accept these terms.

1. Who we are

Trading as The Bones Vault. 521 Route De Charenton, Lieu Dit La Petite Prade, 18200 Saint-Amand-Montrond, France Email: Sales@thebonesvault.com ·

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase from us. By ordering, you confirm that you are 18 or over and legally able to enter into a contract.

3. Our specimens

We sell osteological specimens, taxidermy, fossils, and related natural history items, both genuine and replica.

Every genuine specimen is unique. Photographs show the actual item you will receive. Natural variation, age-related marks, historic repairs and minor imperfections are normal characteristics of authentic material, not defects.

Where an item is a replica or a model, we state this clearly in the listing. Where an item is genuine, we describe its type and, where known, its origin.

Descriptions, dimensions and weights are given as accurately as we can. Minor variation may occur, particularly with natural material.

4. Legal compliance and your responsibility

This section is important. Please read it carefully.

Some of the items we sell are regulated. Depending on the item and your location, this may include human remains, species listed under CITES, and ivory.

Before you order, you are responsible for confirming that you may lawfully receive and possess the item in your own country, state or region. Laws vary significantly and change over time.

We will:

  • confirm, before dispatch, whether we are able to lawfully ship a given item to your destination
  • provide the documentation we hold regarding a specimen’s origin
  • decline or cancel any order we cannot lawfully fulfil

We cannot:

  • provide legal advice about your jurisdiction
  • accept responsibility for items seized, refused entry or restricted by your local authorities where you have given us inaccurate information about your location or eligibility

If an order is cancelled because we cannot lawfully ship to you, we will refund you in full.

5. Restricted destinations

We do not ship certain categories of item to certain destinations. Restrictions apply, without limitation, to:

  • Human remains, which are restricted in some US states and some countries
  • Mammoth ivory, which is restricted in several US states and some countries
  • CITES-listed species, which require documentation and, in some cases, permits

If you are unsure whether we can ship to you, contact us before ordering.

6. Prices and payment

All prices are shown in euros (EUR) and include or exclude tax as indicated at checkout.

Prices may change, but the price shown when you place your order is the price you pay. If a price is listed in error, we will contact you before processing the order, and you may confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

Payment is taken at checkout through our payment provider. We accept [BANK TRANSFER, CRYPTO, PAYPAL, OR CREDIT CARD].

7. Orders and acceptance

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we send you a dispatch confirmation.

We may decline an order where:

  • the item is no longer available
  • we cannot lawfully ship it to your destination
  • we cannot verify your payment or identity where verification is required
  • there has been a pricing or description error

8. Shipping and delivery

We ship worldwide, subject to the restrictions in sections 4 and 5.

  • Standard items typically ship within [X] business days
  • Large or high-value items ship as insured freight, with timings confirmed individually
  • All orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging

  • Risk passes to you on delivery

Customs and import charges. International orders may attract duties, taxes or customs charges. These are your responsibility and are not included in our prices. Delays caused by customs are outside our control.

9. Cancellation and returns

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you generally have the right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, and to receive a refund. To cancel, contact us at Sales@thebonesvault.com within that period.

To return an item:

  • notify us within 14 days of delivery
  • return it within 14 days of notifying us
  • return it in its original condition and packaging

Please note: some limited exceptions to the right of cancellation exist in law, for example for goods made to your specification. Where an exception applies to an item, we will state this clearly in the listing before you order.

10. Care of specimens

Genuine specimens are fragile and require appropriate care. We provide care guidance with every order and in our collector guides. We are not responsible for damage caused by improper handling, storage, cleaning or display after delivery.

11. Ethical sourcing

We source responsibly and are transparent about the origin of what we sell. We do not knowingly deal in looted, grave-recovered, protected Indigenous, or unlawfully obtained material. Where we hold documentation regarding a specimen’s origin, we provide it.

If you have a concern about the provenance of anything we sell, contact us and we will address it directly.
